ABSTRACT:

The study aims to explore the crucial role of International institutions in promoting peace in the contemporary world through complex interdependence which is the theoretical understanding of the major approach of the Neo-Liberal school of thought. According to Neo Liberal Philosophy, the problems faced by global community can only be resolved by Institutional empowerment. The international institutions emphasize Institutionalized peace and the importance of cooperation, mutual dependence, global Interests, and reducing conflicts among nations, and how the impact of international institutions in fostering dependence, interconnected, peaceful relations, and stable world order. The study exercises the qualitative research method and describes role of international institutions such as the United Nations, the World Trade Organization, and the World Bank. The role of World Bank in Indus Water Treaty and role of European Union in Colombian peace process is one the major example of institutionalizing peace through complex interdependence. The finding of the research includes analyzing the role of international institutions in peace and stability and cooperation in the polarized world. In the contemporary world, international institutions are key stakeholders in promotion and maintenance of peace.
